Responsible for assisting Purchasing Managers in ensuring supply and improving the performance, quality and service level of suppliers providing materials to the Ice Cream Division plants and contract manufacturers. Primary duties include: ensure and facilitate material supply to optimize plant operations, resolve and/or escalate critical material issues, actively participate on Ice Cream Division projects such as new products and all types of product or packaging changes, initiate and implement cost savings projects, support supplier on-boarding, create and maintain accurate SAP GLOBE contracts, coordinate PPV research, track supplier performance, resolve PO and invoice discrepancies as needed, and build strong business relationships with all functional areas of the Ice Cream Division by providing exceptional customer service.
-Ensure and facilitate material supply to manufacturing facilities; ensure suppliers have capacity to cover NIC factory and contract manufacturer production requirements, initiate and maintain inventory requirement programs. Develop positive and effective relationships with suppliers; ensure supplier performance and service; improve operational efficiency; implement supplier report card process.
-As the corporate purchasing liaison between the plant and suppliers, be the first point of contact for plants and other key Ice Cream Division customers to assist in managing and resolving supplier quality, supply and service issues; assist and coordinate critical material expedites. Resolve material supply issues at their root cause.
-Maintain and create SAP GLOBE contracts enabling plant PO creators to place orders with suppliers; ensure accuracy of items, pricing, EOQs and volumes. Work with various internal departments and suppliers to help research and resolve invoice discrepancies.
-Develop and maintain strong business relationships with all functional areas of the Ice Cream Division, including plants and contract manufacturers.
-Proactively participate as a team member on new product and all types of product or packaging change projects. This includes raw or packaging material changes and managing the process of communication, inventories and supply. Attend new product meetings; communicate new item and material needs to strategic purchasing managers early in the development process. Coordinate and implement cost savings and other purchasing projects.
-Facilitate the information flow between Procurement and the Ice Cream Division; ensure key stakeholders are aware of Purchasing initiatives; ensure Purchasing is aware of division plans, projects, new products, changes in personnel, etc.
-Identify and leverage capabilities of suppliers to implement innovation, reduce material cost, and improve on-time performance and quality.
-Develop risk mitigation plans for single and sole sourced materials and suppliers; coordinate efforts with NBS strategic purchasing managers, production development, technical services, technical packaging departments to source alternate suppliers and materials.
-Work with internal departments to coordinate and resolve supplier claims as needed.
-Participate on internal cross-functional purchasing teams and projects to implement best practice operational processes; develop and implement action plans based on feedback from internal and external surveys.
-Position to be located in Oakland, CA.
REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience. CPM or CPIM certification is a plus.
Purchasing, supply chain, demand planning, finance, and/or technical/manufacturing experience preferred.
Candidate must be a demonstrated quick study, proven ability to manage change, ability to work with and through people at all levels, strong decision making. Excellent communicator and demonstrated skills in collaboration. Strong negotiation and pricing skills for materials and services.
SAP knowledge preferred.
MUST be proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and email systems.
Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to analyze and solve problems.
Proficiency and experience with computerized MRP, MRPII or ERP systems is preferred.
Understanding of inventory management methodologies and production control techniques is valuable.
