Position Purpose



This position is responsible for deploying the financial control framework in Cargill Agricultural Supply Chain North America (CASCNA). It is also responsible for identifying & implementing internal control systems that provide effective and efficient operations, reliable financial reporting and compliance with laws, regulations and corporate policies. CASCNA is regulated by multiple regulatory agencies including the CFTC, USDA, country and state regulators and the regulatory and compliance area is dynamic. Works with all product lines and function areas to implement critical financial controls in accordance with minimum control required standards. Ensures there is a consistent risk self-assessment process to identify critical risks, implement new controls, monitor controls and review (i.e. mini-audit/value preservation program). This role will work closely with the Controls COE to lead the deployment of the financial control framework by assessing risk and developing and deploying sustainable processes and tools to ensure that controls are maintained across multiple financial delivery models, systems, and processes. This role will also partner with the new CASCNA compliance leader. This position plays a critical role to assess the effectiveness of controls and to ensure financial compliance across all enterprises, which is critical through this dynamic time of change. This position will also have oversight of system segregation of duties and system security. The scope of the role includes ensuring we have appropriate Joint Venture (JV) oversight/monitoring. It also includes leading technical Accounting and Finance (A&F) training.


Principal Accountabilities

40% Deploy Control Framework

Partner with Controls COE to design, implement, and monitor the control framework to ensure effective financial controls and accurate financial statements in light of the business activities and environment

Collaborate across the product lines and countries, within CASCNA and across enterprises in NA and CASC globally to create and leverage best practices

Partner with A&F leaders across CASCNA to understand and assess financial statement trend and variance analysis

Work very closely with Tax, Treasury, CFR, Financial Risk Management, internal auditors, as well as all business areas, such as BOSC/plant operations, trade execution, Customer Solutions & Services merchandising/commercial, etc.


25% Assess, Identify, and Report Risk

Develop strategy and plan to systematically and proactively assess, identify, and report risk

Perform risk assessments to identify risk areas and develop monitoring plans

Develop plan to ensure effective controls for shared service transitions, ERP implementations, and acquisitions/divestures

Partner with Controls COE, Audit, and A&F teams to understand and address financial risk areas

Partner cross-enterprise and across CASC globally to leverage and share best practices and comply with Cargill governance

25% Monitor and Improve Financial Controls

Develop ongoing financial control validation, monitoring, and sustained processes

Partner with teams to address control inconsistencies and gaps across CASCNA

Identify opportunities for control efficiencies in processes

Provide the critical role of financial compliance and control steward to the CASCNA teams, especially through dynamic change

Ensure financial controls are consistently monitored; audits/mini audits are executed according to pre-defined schedules. Partner with all areas involved to ensure compliance for new business transactions or new controls identified to be implemented.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum 10 years of accounting or finance experience in leadership positions, including minimum of 2 years with controls/compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long term strategic plans
  • Strong accounting experience with very good technical knowledge
  • Demonstrated change agility.
  • Highly effective people leadership skills which motivates for high performance
  • Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate, influence and build trust across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Proven accounting/finance leader with strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and use technology to improve process and control
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Ability to travel up to 30%
  • English Proficiency


Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional accounting designation
  • Experience with SOX compliance
  • Demonstrated ability to create a team culture of continuous improvement, process optimization, and intellectual curiosity
  • Understanding and experience working with JDE, SAP, and Lynx
  • Experience with multiple businesses and/or international business experience
