This position leads the regulatory compliance and product stewardship function to support FIBI's bioindustrial products in North America (NA). Particular areas of focus are EPA regulations (e.g. FIFRA & TSCA) and OSHA Hazcom, but the position is responsible for all bioindustrial product based regulations. Chemical regulatory compliance is an area in which Cargill does not have a lot of corporate expertise; in this position, there is a need for breadth of knowledge, ability to act independently, and educate functions and businesses, to ensure compliance. The bioindustrial space is a rapidly growing, global, specialty chemical business.
Lead FIBI NA bioindustrial regulatory function. Manage ongoing regulatory compliance for product based chemical regulations. Identify, assess, monitor and manage bioindustrial/chemical product issues (emerging and ongoing). Educates BU management, provides strategic advice on regulatory requirements and path forward.
Proactively identifies emerging issues relating to chemical regulations and product use. Develops business programs to manage emerging issues.
Develops, implements and executes the FIBI NA bioindustrial regulatory strategy to introduce new products.
Ensure compliance with chemical regulatory requirements across the FIBI NA bioindustrial supply chain (product labels, safety data sheets, data supporting marketing claims, product formulation changes, supplier approvals, etc.) Work with the business to understand, secure, and maintain necessary authorizations under US and global control regulations (e.g. REACH, TSCA, FIFRA, MCAN, Agriculture, CLP, etc…). Assist business in the development and implementation of processes, procedures, and tools needed to ensure product regulatory compliance.
Manages customer communication on bioindustrial regulatory issues
Develops and manages relationship on regulatory issues with others within Cargill, experts/consultants providing services, regulators, industry organizations and customers
o 10 years' experience in product based chemical regulatory compliance (chemical management regulatory compliance and chemical product stewardship).
o Experience filing PMN's, working with SDS's, breadth of experience with other regulations (e.g., DOT, customs, Food Contact or Personal Care Products)
o Experience in managing relationships with key stakeholders: customers, external consultants, trade associations and product panels.
o Relationships with regulators
o Managing relationships with customers

o Understanding of chemical regulations in other countries
o Working with the business and communicating regulatory needs in business terms
o Developing and implementing regulatory processes &/or integrating regulatory issues into business processes
o Demonstrated organizational agility and ability to learn and/or find the answer
o Ability to understand the business drivers in order to engage the business at appropriate time to meet commercial objectives
o Clear understanding of decision rights around regulatory issues, i.e. when regulatory should say no and when regulatory should explain the implications of decisions and help, but allow the business to make the decision. Ability to communicate clearly about same.
o Ability to find resources and create allies, formally and informally
o Interest in and ability to champion regulatory compliance issues
o Great listening skills
