Position Purpose


The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for working with management to drive the execution of the Reliability Excellence COE strategy and approach for the department they supervise. This position is responsible for ensuring that the work management process is executed consistently and that the maintenance program is run effectively and efficiently. This is accomplished by leading project initiatives, training resources, and planning, scheduling and leading work.


Principal Accountabilities


As a Maintenance Supervisor, you will be required to coordinate maintenance activities with Department Managers and Production Supervisors to maximize operational efficiency of equipment and minimize unscheduled downtime. Also the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for monitoring safety practices and ensuring that mechanics are actively working on downtime issues and scheduled work such as preventive maintenance. The Maintenance Supervisor will instruct and supervise maintenance mechanics throughout the facilty. The Maintenance Supervisor will work in conjunction with operations on up time and efficiency.


30% - Monitor and champion the work management process and ensure its effective execution and that all work is performed according to Cargill's Best Practices


25%- Capability development/ensure that employees are trained and Department EEs' skills are current and appropriate


25%- Project management (supervise implementation of Continuous Improvement, capital, reliability, safety and other projects)


10%- Maintain effective communication between department and other plant disciplines


10%- Miscellaneous Duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years work experience in maintenance related field
  • 1 year(s) experience supervising direct reports
  • Although this is primarily a 2nd shift Monday through Friday position, candidates MUST be able and willing to work on and help cover other shifts, including 1st and 3rd shifts, and weekends as required


Preferred Qualifications

  • 7 years work experience in maintenance related field
  • 5 years experience supervising direct reports
  • Experience working with stakeholders and leaders within an organization
  • BS degree in technical field or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience acting as a role model and coach, tailoring coaching techniques to individuals and situations
  • Experience utilizing formal and informal networks within an organization to deliver results and remove obstacles for team members
  • Demonstrated ability to directly and indirectly influence a large, diverse group of stakeholders at all levels within the organization
  • Proven ability to identify issues, obtain relevant information, and relate / compare facts from different sources to identify solutions
  • Proven ability to use expertise, experience, and network to manage through ambiguous situations
  • Analytical Problem Solving: Able to identify problems; apply structured and disciplined methodology to identify root cause using data
  • Ability to build strong working relationships
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical aspects of machine operation and to communicate to the non-technical
  • CMRP certification from SMRP
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E/Electronic Background
  • Working knowledge of a structured maintenance organization and how it operates
  • Working knowledge of SAP
