This position is responsible for the deployment of the financial control framework across the Protein Group NA. It is also responsible for identifying, documenting & implementing consistent internal control systems across the business that provide financial assurance of effective and efficient operations, reliable financial reporting and compliance with laws, regulations and corporate policies. This position works with all business channels and supporting functions to implement critical controls in accordance with minimum control required standards. This individual will ensure there is a consistent deployment of mini-audits and risk assessment processes to identify critical risks and implement appropriate change to current controls or new controls as required. This role will work closely with the Controls COE to lead the deployment of the financial control framework by assessing risk and developing and deploying sustainable processes and tools to ensure that controls are maintained across multiple financial delivery models, systems, and processes. This role will perform internal audit processes and be the key contact for Cargill Audit, leading the business through these activities. This position plays a critical role to assess the effectiveness of controls and to ensure financial compliance across the enterprise, which is critical through this dynamic time of change.
50% Deploy Control Framework
Partner with Controls COE to deploy the framework in a consistent manner across Cargill Protein Group.
Evaluate, plan and ensure effective controls for shared service transitions, ERP implementations, and MADJV
Collaborate across the enterprises to create and leverage best practices
Partner with teams to address control inconsistencies and gaps across the countries in CPG
Provide a critical assurance role of financial compliance and control steward to the country teams, especially through dynamic change
Provide technical accounting expertise for MADJV activities, as needed, business in collaboration with relevant functions and partners.
Consistent approach and review of segregation of duties.
Consistent deployment of all control policies for high-risk financial areas such as cash disbursements, payments, etc.
Train finance and business management on COSO. Deploy consistent approach in CPG.
Develop and deliver education to business partners on controls. May work with new teammates to set appropriate training goals and help ensure each team's members have the appropriate skills to complete the project within scope
Provides coaching and training to teammates on established corporate audit practices/procedures and solicits team member's feedback for improvement.
Acts as a mentor and provides developmental feedback to audit teammates utilizing the Cargill Leadership Expectations.
25% Assess, Identify, and Report Financial Control Risk
Develop strategy and plan to systematically and proactively assess, identify, and report risk
Review complex business processes to identify potential risk
Perform risk assessments to identify risk areas and develop monitoring plans
Partner with Controls COE & Audit teams to understand and address financial risk areas
Analyze business process documentation and partner with business/function SMEs to develop an understanding of the steps in a business process. Gather and analyze process-related documentation and information on who is involved in the process; their role as well as the controls. Evaluate the effectiveness of the controls, and the residual risk
Develop and implement ongoing financial control validation, monitoring, and sustained processes
Analyzes residual risks and quantitative indicators, (e.g. trend analysis, key ratios, etc) to assess materiality and probability of risks, which support conclusions that are provided to audit teams and business/function management
Identify risks, then provide guidance and influence to business/function management on mitigating risks
Documents audit project findings and create written reports requiring a deep understanding of the business/function processes being audited. Follow through on closing appropriate risks.
25% Monitor & Improve Controls and Compliance
Partner with the Controls COE to design, implement, and monitor the control framework for CPG
Ensure financial controls are consistently monitored. Ensure Cargill internal audits and Protein Group initiated mini audits are executed according to schedules. Partner with all areas involved to ensure compliance for new business transactions or new controls identified to be implemented.
Leverage SMEs to identify common risks associated with the process being audited
Performing tests; Gathering, interpreting, validating, and documenting results from testing
Consistent deployment of key annual activities such as Birds Eye View and Control Matrices completion.
Evaluate and address the adequacy and effectiveness of key controls based on findings and testing
Plan audit projects by assessing overall risk at the initial stages of the project, setting priorities and deadlines and discussing the project scope with the Finance Leadership Team. Make proposals on audit scheduling and resource selection.
Builds rapport and acts as a liaison between Corporate Audit and business/function to communicate to the respective management of relevant events and activities.
Reviews audit related documentation/reports to check for controls and weaknesses and verify documentation is written in a clear and concise manner, according to Corporate Audit standards.
Collaborates with team to manage corporate accounting requests in completion of audits.
Identify opportunities for control efficiencies in processes

- Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience in leadership positions.
- Strong accounting experience with very good technical knowledge
- Demonstrated change agility.

- Professional accounting designation
- Proficient knowledge in current business financial processes and systems
- 2 years' experience with controls/compliance
- Experience with SOX compliance
- Understanding and experience working with JDE, SAP, and other AS400 applications
- Experience with multiple businesses and/or international business experience
