Position Purpose

Cargill's Engineering R&D (EngRD) is a global group that develops innovative process technologies, and that works with existing Cargill and customer facilities to improve their economic and environmental performance. It provides Cargill businesses and customers with novel products and services, distinctive value and growth opportunities. EngRD supports manufacturing activities around the world, and across the full breadth of Cargill, from new-to-the-world food ingredients, through complex bio-refineries processing of corn, wheat or soya, to industrial applications.
In this position, you will provide leadership and execution of engineering projects involving process improvement/optimization and new process development for new and existing products. You will partner with other team members and our business clients to identify project needs and define new projects for execution by multidisciplinary teams formed from Engineering and Biotechnology R&D teams, client embedded functions and external partners as needed. You will have the opportunity to manage a wide variety of projects involving a great number of process technology areas such as chocolate and cocoa, starches and sweeteners, refined oils and texturizing solutions.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Managing and executing process improvement projects for debottlenecking and optimization of yield, energy and/or waste
  • Design, build, start up and operate pilot and process demonstration equipment at the appropriate scale.
  • Interact with the project team, including Engineering R&D subject matter experts and Business Group operations teams, to drive successful implementation of new projects
  • Provide timely communications to key stakeholders on project performance and technology efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with 3 years relevant industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with conceptual design and/or optimization of chemical manufacturing processes
  • Strong understanding of fundamental chemical engineering principles
  • Strong understanding of fundamental fermentation process principles
  • Demonstrated business development and project management experience
  • Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field with 1 years relevant industry experience
  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or related field
