Business Development Specialist

Our client, a distribution company located in Chicago, is looking for a Business Development professional to work closely with grocery, food service and food distributors to maintain and grow their retail business. This is a growing company offering easy-to-sell products, base salary, commission, full benefits and 401k. This is a dynamic and fun place to work.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Utilizing sales techniques, especially cold calling, to establish contact and build relationships.
  • Developing promotional programs and advertising to current and new clients.
  • Meeting with clients, touring facilities, attending tradeshows and presenting company material to prospective clients through a variety of face-to-face interactions.
  • Meeting a minimum of key performance indicators and/or sales goals.

Experience required:

  • A minimum of 2 years of business-to-business sales experience.
  • Food/beverage industry experience, ideally experienced in selling to major retailers and/or food service.
  • Proven track record of new business development.
  • Experience with preparing and performing sales presentations.
  • Comfort with making cold calls, dropping in on clients and building relationships from a cold start.
