Position Purpose

Pork business is a key growth area in Cargill Animal Nutrition with a strong ambition for the future. This is a one year assignment.

The assistant researcher Pork is accountable to contribute to the delivery of innovative research and projects through supporting researchers with trials execution, protocols and reports. The assistant researcher must have the ability to write trials protocols, reports and coordinate trials execution in pigs. Besides, the research assistant must be able to perform scientific literature review on specific subjects.

The assistant researcher Pork belongs to the R&D team of the global Cargill Animal Nutrition team called Strategic marketing and technology. The assistant researcher senior scientist pork is a member of the global Strategic Marketing Technology pork team and contribute to the global pork strategy.

Measures for success will include: Gross Margin/EAT for the global pork business, delivery of the value of the projects in the innovation pipeline and R&D excellence criteria (timeline respect in trials deliverables like protocols, coordination and reports, quality of the deliverables).

Principal Accountabilities

50% Contribution to a define project (will start with the piglets area) through writing reports (words and power points), protocols and trials execution coordination linked to the project. Support the researcher with designing, organizing and executing the experimental program linked to the project. Support the researcher to perform literature review in line with the pork strategy.

40% Support other projects in sows and Hog finishers on writing reports, protocols design and trials execution.

10% Ideation and active team member of the R&D team and global pork team to improve trials execution and quality on site.

  • Master in animal science and/or nutrition and/or related science
  • Experience in running farms animal trials
  • Ability to write compelling and scientific sounds trials protocols and reports.
  • Analytical and synthetic to deliver good reports (word and power points)
  • Compelling and authentic communication skills to allow good communication with researchers as well as high level of trust and communication with the technicians and all people working in research facility
  • Demonstrated disciplined, timeline respect and structured approach to execute on trials and other given assignment.
  • Agile and team player


  • Experience with pigs rather than other farm animals
  • Formulation training or experience
  • Knowledge in animal nutrition
  • Ability to share ideas and be innovative
