Reporting to the Central Audit Manager, supporting Nestlé USA & Nestlé Canada. This position will have duties assigned for both food safety auditing and supplier improvement. Responsible to assess the quality and food safety systems and facilities of raw and packaging suppliers. In addition, the position will work with key suppliers identified with performance issues and requested for improvement. The position requires both a compliance focus for food safety audits and a customer focus, working with suppliers as a quality coach and trusted adviser supporting goods inwards for Nestlé factories. Ability to interact effectively on various cross-functional teams internally (Factory QA, TAG, Procurement, Corporate Quality) and with external stakeholders (Suppliers, Certification Bodies) as required.


  • Audit the quality and food safety systems and facilities of suppliers, specific contract manufacturers, brokers, boutiques, food suppliers and warehouses to Nestlé USA, Nestlé Canada and Nespresso USA and ascertain their compliance level to provide safe food and adherence to local regulatory requirements
  • Perform qualifying audits for potential new suppliers to support business opportunities and needs. Coach and educate those who accompany the auditor. Identify appropriate corrective actions to the companies being audited and inform the appropriate Nestlé parties
  • Travel extensively to on-site vendor locations; perform on-site assessments as required to determine corrective actions or new opportunities 
  • Review Third Party Audit Reports for Food Safety & Quality Management Systems to be used as a basis for supplier approval
  • Audit Report writing; clearly document audit results and findings in approved formats
  • Use GLOBE VAM system to report audit findings and gap closures
  • Develop and communicate monthly scorecards and performance improvement results to Central Audit Manager and Quality Director
  • Coordinate audit schedule to minimize costs and improve efficiency
  • Follow-up on corrective actions to achieve compliance to audit gaps
  • Other duties related to audit function; team meetings, operational reviews, projects, assigned to manage opportunities for improvement (OFI) with key impact suppliers to drive vendor performance and continuous improvement
  • Communicate significant deficiencies to the appropriate Divisional QA Director/Procurement/Director Supplier Management, etc


  • Technical degree in a food-related field
  • Food Safety Management System; Food Safety Team Leader or Qualified Internal Auditor), FSCC 22000 Food Safety Management Lead Auditor (or GFSI equivalent), Food Process/Product Experience
  • Qualified PCQI (Preventative Controls Qualified Inspector)
  • Extensive Travel - approx. 70%

  • Nestlé Quality Leadership training or equivalent - desired
  • Minimum 7 years food-related quality assurance experience and in-depth understanding of;
  • Food Safety & Quality Management System processes and procedures; implementation and auditing
  • Hazard Analysis, Validation & Verification of PRP's and Control Measures and HACCP plans
