Cargill Protein is a leader at delivering primary processed and value added proteins into the Foodservice, Retail and Manufacturing market channels. It operates several food processing facilities located in the US and Canada. Our customers in Foodservice are comprised of large national restaurant chain operators, contract feeding companies and both national and regional foodservice distributors. Our Retail customers are comprised of primarily large national grocery retailers and warehouse clubs. Our Manufacturing customers are comprised of large branded manufacturers of retail consumer packaged goods. The customers from these channels are attracted to working with Cargill because of our demonstrated leadership in delivering innovative products, integrity, operational excellence, food safety and risk management.

Technical Safety Regional Leaders will be responsible for providing instruction and direction to multiple BU/plant locations to ensure consistent development and implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) expectations and standards. Technical Safety Regional Leaders will mainly serve as strategy resources on the implementation and execution of Regulatory and Cargill expectations and requirements for regulated and non-regulated processes including ammonia, boilers, rendering, biogas and any other highly hazardous processes. Technical Safety Regional Leaders will directly manage and hold accountable their facility base location while also indirectly managing an average of 7 facility locations within their area/region (for example NE, Midwest, West, etc). Depending on the needs of the company, the career aspirations and mobility of the individual, the career progression can be quite different for future roles. Technical Safety Regional Leaders are leaders in their facility organizational structure that report directly to the Corporate Technical Safety Manager in addition to being leaders across Business Unit (BU) functions.

  • 30%
    - Directly Oversee PSM for Facility Location: Direct responsibility for the management and implementation of their base facility PSM program. Manage the ongoing program by overseeing and providing direction to the facility's PSM Coordinator, Safety Teams, Utility Teams for ensuring the continuing compliance and best practices are followed. This position will also be responsible for the accountabilities outlined in the Technical Safety Facilitator job description for their facility base location.

  • 25% - Auditing, Regulatory Compliance:
    Participate and lead compliance audits and PHAs for the facilities in their region. Assist in cross-function regional audits for consistency in implementation and expectations of auditing and hazard assessment processes. Assistance in planning and scheduling of MOCs and project improvements for facilities specific to regulated processes.

  • 15% - Global Insurance; Fire Systems; Mechanical Integrity:
    Regional Leads will be Fire System Leader for their base facility in addition to overseeing the compliance of insurance inspections and fire systems for their regional locations. Responsibilities will include delegating and scheduling inspections and follow-up actions from inspection findings. Regional Leads will also assist in managing 3rd party contractors regarding insurance, structural integrity and mechanical integrity of the process systems.

  • 15% - Incident Investigation and HAZMAT Training:
    Responsible for appropriate scheduling of activities for HAZMAT preparedness training and drills. Ensure facilities have sufficient membership, training competencies and implement Cargill requirements for HAZMAT. Lead incident investigations and follow-up corrective action prioritization and closure for facilities.

  • 10% - Training:
    Train PSM Coordinators and facility personnel in PSM Programs and Cargill expectations. Lead best practices and standards development for Cargill and industry RAGAGEP. Participate in training lead auditors, PHA Facilitators and educate on Cargill expectations for implementation of 14 elements of PSM. Review training records and programs for facilities around refrigeration.

  • 4 year degree in Engineering/Safety/EHS or at least 5 years of proven industrial refrigeration experience/or 5 years Process Safety Management experience

  • Certification as a Process Safety Management Auditor and Certified Process Hazard Analysis lead Facilitator

  • Leading teams through significant change

  • Professional verbal and written communication skills to communicate visions with specific direction and delegation

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and oversee multiple projects and prioritize actions.

  • Intermediate level proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications. Experience in CMMS; PHAPro; AutoCAD

  • Ammonia operator training

  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time

    Preferred Qualifications

  • CIRO/ other approved Technical Certification. Ability to obtain CIRO within 1yr.

  • OSHA experience in inspection processes

  • Work experience with refrigeration, utilities and waste water treatment equipment and processes

  • Work experience with Cause Mapping Analysis and TapRoot Incident Investigation methods

  • Understanding of industry practices for preventative and predictive maintenance processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to indirectly managing and influencing several facilities for accountabilities.
