Cargill is developing a new corporate university designed to provide world class learning and education curriculums aligned to the critical skills and capabilities needed to execute Cargill's new Strategic Direction. The Corporate University will be comprised of three Colleges:

  • College of Leadership & Managerial Excellence
  • College of Business & Commercial Excellence
  • College of Functional & Operational Excellence

The Global L&D Lead of Functional & Operational Excellence is responsible for setting the vision, designing and developing the learning strategies, curriculums and programs for the College of Functional and Operational Excellence, one of three colleges in Cargill's new Corporate University structure. The Corporate University leads will design, develop and manage all facets of the College learning portfolio.

Principal Accountabilities:

40% Global curriculum, learning and education design strategies

  • Facilitate senior stakeholders to establish the vision and curriculum strategy for the college
  • Establish college curriculum and design blueprints
  • Source and lead curriculum design and development projects using internal instructional designers, leveraging subject matter experts and/or identifying external industry expert partners

40% Establish and manage the College Faculty Structure

  • Establish and manage 3rd party partner & university partnerships
  • Establish and manage senior executive sponsors & corporate SME partnerships
  • Develop a faculty of faciitators using a leaders teaching leaders model.
  • Partner with Regional HR Solutions Delivery organizations to localize and support curriculum delivery

10% Evaluation, Impact Assessment and Continuous Improvement

  • Deploy impact and evaluation measures to monitor progress towards closing organizational capability gaps
  • Quality assurance for the end to end learning and development processes
  • Continuous improvement, refinement and refresh of best practice curriculums, learning solution design and content

10% Manage a small team of curriculum leads

  • Build and engage a team of high performing, highly skilled and experienced curriculum leads

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human Resource, learning/ adult educational field
  • Minimum 12 years' experience in managing global learning and development functions and corporate programs and curriculums
  • Minimum 5 years' experience leading teams
  • Ability to lead a virtual, global team
  • Self-starter, creative and innovative
  • Demonstrated conceptual strength and strategic thinking skills to create a vision
  • Solid leadership skills and ability to interact with senior level leaders
  • Possesses broad perspective and applies a business value approach to learning and development
  • Experience leveraging a 3rd party resource management strategy
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and measure program effectiveness and value
  • Change leadership strength specifically in stakeholder management
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity and manage emergent change
  • Strong cultural awareness and experience in working with diverse teams
  • Demonstrated business and global acumen at all levels of the organization
  • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally


  • Leading a global team
  • Experience working with competency models, assessment and curriculum alignment
  • Advanced degree in learning/educational field
  • Experience leading others instructional strategy and design (i.e. Assess, Design Develop, Implement and Evaluate)
  • Budget management
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Proven experience in building curriculums and content delivered to global audiences using e-learning and virtual classroom formats
