Cargill Premix & Nutrition develops, manufactures and sells customized animal nutrition products and services for customers primarily focused on beef, dairy, ruminants, poultry and swine. With 56 production centers in 31 countries, it also provides technical services, technology licensing, software and management services to customers. Some of its branded products include Provimi®, Akey®, Vigortone®, Citura®, Neolait®, Nutral® and Nutron®.
The Technical Services Specialist will be a member of US Strategic Marketing and Technology (SMT) team, aligned primarily with pork and poultry go-to-market channels. This position will be responsible for delivering technical leadership and support to the go-to-market teams for additives applied to monogastric species. The position will deliver technically sound and compelling additive advice and training for sales personnel and customers. The successful candidate will lead key technical aspects required for growth of the additives business, a key part of the US business portfolio. Position responsibilities also include input and support for innovation and development of offering portfolio, management of some validation studies, and technical support to additive marketing efforts.
60% - Sales Support & Training: Activate, train, and support Pork, Poultry, and Citura sales teams to enhance confidence and engagement of go-to-market teams and customers. Educate and train sales and technical teammates on selected nutritional additives, their science, application, and value for customers. Participate in the sales process, with technical presentations and exchanges with key customers, when required.
15% - Technical Leadership: Engage with pork and poultry and additive SMT teams to define and develop technical aspects of go-to-market value packages, including products, tools, and services. Develop and deliver clear, value-based, technical information to support the confidence, and application success of customers.
10% - Vision: Understand the needs of customers and participate in product development processes to ensure world class solutions are brought to market. Help identify customer challenges and opportunities for nutritional additive solutions to add value. Provide insight to support the development of nutritional additive solutions, marketing strategy, and go-to-market plans. Become a recognized champion of nutritional additives in the professional, animal nutrition industry.
10% - Portfolio Development: Work closely with SMT and go-to-market teams to identify, prioritize, evaluate, and deliver new offerings. Actively manage validation testing conducted at internal, 3rd party external, or customer facilities.
5% - Marketing Execution: Coordinate with the SMT additive product line managers, additive sales specialists, marketing communications managers, and others to produce the marketing support required for effective strategy execution, and help deliver the appropriate collateral and educational materials to support successful growth of nutritional additives.
Position will require up to 40% travel.
- Master's degree in Swine or Poultry Nutrition or closely related field.
- Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including comfort with customer interfaces.
- Demonstrable experience for understanding and explaining the physiological basis and application of nutritional additives and related technologies, to both technical and commercial audiences.
- Organized, self-starter with demonstrable abilities to set and follow priorities, and manage multiple concurrent projects, and increase financial contribution from products.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people who play commercial leadership, R&D, sales, and functional support roles
- PhD in Nutrition or allied field
- 3-5 years relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to understand and successfully solve business problems in a customer-focused environment
- Experience in technical support, development, or marketing of nutritional additives or similar high value nutrition products
