Cargill Protein is a leader at delivering primary processed and value added proteins into the Foodservice, Retail and Manufacturing market channels. It operates several food processing facilities located in the US and Canada. Our customers in Foodservice are comprised of large national restaurant chain operators, contract feeding companies and both national and regional foodservice distributors. Our Retail customers are comprised of primarily large national grocery retailers and warehouse clubs. Our Manufacturing customers are comprised of large branded manufacturers of retail consumer packaged goods. The Cargill Protein Group Analysis Lead is responsible for the development and accuracy of Cargill Protein and Salt's (CPS) in-house forecasts related to the supply, demand and price of beef, hogs and poultry. This position is still relatively new within the CPS enterprise, hence a significant amount of time will be dedicated to fostering the overall analysis strategy, prioritizing analysis focus areas, exploring and monetizing in-house CPS data, building sound analytics processes, and communicating with CPS trading teams. There are currently three analysts reporting into this position and the person in this role must lead and set the direction for the team. The Protein Group Analytics Lead must be a subject matter expert in analytics, statistics, have a strong understanding of mainly U.S. meat markets and must be able to communicate complex issues and forecast methods in a simple manner. The Protein Group Analytics Lead will be a member of the Global Trading Analytics team and will look for ways to leverage previously established best practices related to analytics in Cargill.

Principal Accountabilities

35% Responsible for developing a strategy to ensure the CPS enterprise has world class meat analytics. Lead a team of analysts focused on specific sectors in the animal protein space.

30% Lead US meat analysis, which includes producing all forecasts related primarily to beef, and to a somewhat lesser extent pork and poultry. Communicate regularly with CPS trading teams.

20% Ensure accurate methods of analysis are used consistently across the team. Leverage the vast amount of internal data relating to meat markets that resides in the CPS enterprise. Bring new methods of analysis to the team and ensure the team has adequate resources and training to meet the challenges of their particular geography.

10% Ensure timely communication with the Global Trading Analytics teams regarding supply and demand changes, and look for ways to leverage insights across platforms.


Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree OR equivalent experience in Ag Economics, Economics, MBA, Statistics OR similar field
• 10 years analysis experience in agricultural markets
• Experience leading teams
• Significant experience building forecasting models
• Deep knowledge of agricultural trading business
• 5 years of leading a team
• Must be self-motivating and driven
• Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong understanding of meat markets
• Experience in commodity trading
