This position is global in scope and will be Cargill's thought leader in Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) practices and standard. The position is responsible leading the integration of advanced HOP safety concepts, standards and new processes within Cargill that will achieve our zero injury expectation. The main purpose is to lead the design, communication and deployment of high reliability and error reduction best practices and ensure these best practices are integrated into Cargill's work methods and processes. Additionally, this position will lead the development of education and training processes that builds HOP competency at all levels of the organization and to equip all Cargill employees with the necessary tools and training to achieve our vision of zero harm.
Principal Accountabilities .
30% - Develop and execute strategy which builds human and organizational performance and “New View” safety competency. In collaboration with BOSC domain leaders, integrate core HOP principles into Cargill work processes and systems including operating procedures, engineering standards, maintenance and reliability programs and stable operations. Leads application of safety systems thinking and error reduction techniques/tools to ensure development of “standard work” that is performed safely and reliably.
30% - Leads development of HOP education program that builds human performance and error reduction capability and skills as appropriate for all levels of the organization. This includes development of enterprise, group and site level education deployment strategies based on business readiness and risk. Collaborates with Cargill Learning and Development and other partners to define HOP competency matrix and develop engaging education programs. Accelerates deployment by creating and managing “train the trainer” programs that develop HOP advocates at enterprise and/or regional level.
20% - Leads, mentors and oversees the professional development of enterprise/regional HOP advocates to drive consistency and effectiveness processes. Identifies and manages the relationship of outside resources utilized to support Cargill's HOP program this includes budgeting and contracting strategic resources. Participates and pursues leadership roles in leading external EHS and industry organizations and seeks external benchmarking opportunities to bring “outside in” experience and best practices.
20% - Development of metrics and audit processes that identifies systemic error traps and ensures the effectiveness of site HOP deployments and integration of HOP into Cargill management systems. Develops corrective action plans to successfully mitigate identified gaps.
• 4-year Degree preferably Bachelor's Degree in Science (Engineering, Health and Safety, Human Performance)
• Minimum or 15 years' experience in operations, safety and/or engineering with 8 years' experience integrating human performance/human factors concepts.
• Specialized training in human performance/human factors
• Demonstrated understanding of industry best practice in human performance/human factors
• Ability to communicate, present to and influence all levels of the organization
• High self-initiative, setting own goals and execution.
• Motivations and ability to execute projects/tasks in a timely manner, strong prioritization and time management skills
• Willingness to travel 50% including internationally
• Ability to execute work with minimal supervision
• Demonstrated written and verbal communication skill
• Master's or degree in Health and Safety, Human Performance or related technical field
• Certified Safety Professional/Certified Industrial Hygienist.
• Experience in deploying human performance/human factors internationally.
• Demonstrated skills at managing and leading complex and ambiguous situations
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate group discussion and meetings.
• Demonstrated ability to anticipate and mediate conflict; ability to develop solutions that all parties feel are equitable.
