Cargill Protein is a leader at delivering primary processed and value added proteins into the Foodservice, Retail and Manufacturing market channels. It operates several food processing facilities located in the US and Canada. Our customers in Foodservice are comprised of large national restaurant chain operators, contract feeding companies and both national and regional foodservice distributors. Our Retail customers are comprised of primarily large national grocery retailers and warehouse clubs. Our Manufacturing customers are comprised of large branded manufacturers of retail consumer packaged goods. Under minimal oversight and using comprehensive knowledge, conducts Process Improvement activities with medium or lower project cost, risk and activities with less defined processes across multiple sites/locations within a Business or Function. Conducts activities related to bringing multiple processes together into one common process that connects across multiple business channels, plants or functions, portfolio leadership, governance and control; project execution, value realization and measurement; capability and culture development; business partnership, and stakeholder management; and people, talent and budget management
25% - Accountability Category #1: Portfolio Leadership, Governance and Control.
This Role will lead process improvement projects that span across multiple sites/locations within the CPG Enterprise. Provides leadership and direction to conduct organization readiness assessments, value realization, opportunity prioritization, resource evaluation and execute on Process Improvement strategies that align with business strategies across multiple channels/sites/locations. Uses comprehensive knowledge to identify areas for stabilizing or enhancing the performance of assets or processes that improve business results. Analyzes, develops and implements sustainable and quantifiable business process improvements. Continuously analyzes and measures the effectiveness of improvements, and recommends additional improvements to applications, processes and procedures that are less defined. Defines and implements governance models to ensure improvement projects, plans, methodologies and quality standards are consistently followed across multiple sites/locations within the CPG Enterprise. Leads teams to identify causes and solutions, and ensures decision outcomes (e.g. RASCI framework structures, PDT, Cargill's long-term strategy, etc.) are followed. Uses comprehensive knowledge and application of principles, concepts, industry best practices and standards. Researches and develops Process Improvement tools and methods (e.g. Process Re-engineering, Lean/Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Cargill PPM/Project Delivery Process). Identifies problems, and applies structured and disciplined methodology and data to identify and scope root causes, and execute on process improvements. Example projects include: Standard Yields, On Time Delivery, packaging efficiency, production productivity, customer service response, service request speed, transactional accuracy, defects, strategic pricing, SKU management/rationalization, customer profitability, etc. Uses comprehensive data analysis skills to identify issues, create data sets comparing facts from multiple sources, and identify solutions across multiple sites/locations.
25 % - Accountability Category #2: Project Execution, Value Realization, and Measurement.
Develops and manages Process Improvement project plans for projects and assures project goals and objectives are attained and sustained. Identifies and documents variances from project goals and objectives, and communicates status reports, issue logs and risk areas to leadership across multiple channels/sites/locations within the CPG Enterprise. Ensures the stated values from projects are delivered to Cargill's bottom line. Tracks and reports the value creation and develops sustainment plans to ensure sustainable results. Facilitates and coaches teams to deliver improvement in process capability, productivity and quality through implementation of CI philosophy, theory, and application tools / tactics. Uses comprehensive expertise, experience, and network to drive process improvement initiatives across multiple sites/locations and may extend them to suppliers and customers. Manages the daily execution of value stream processes, sub processes and work streams to ensure completion of milestones on task and within scope of projects. Maintain PI project scorecards and dashboards to ensure that identified improvements for multiple sites/locations are successfully implemented and that the promised benefits and value are being captured; provide results to management and leadership.
25% - Accountability Category #3: Capability and Culture Development (Collaboration).
Identifies, monitors, and implements process improvement best practices. Leads teams to select and implement tools and methodologies that will connect the enterprise within common process's and best practices. Drive continuous improvement capability and culture change for multiple channels/sites/locations level projects with less defined processes through best practice sharing, vocal advocacy, and visible leadership, which includes the objective of identifying and implementing opportunities. Act as a subject matter expert to provide comprehensive advice and coach multiple site teams on Process Improvements, providing services and support for teams to be systematic in their approach to develop and improve processes for sustainable, long-term success. Research best practices within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data. Create performance metrics to measure program success by conducting value realization analysis, value tracking process, progress reports and dashboards to ensure project targets (financial, productivity, defect reduction, etc.) are achieved for projects. Assess organizational readiness for the change, and integrates multiple technologies or processes to address changes that include leadership alignment, messaging, and action planning to achieve process improvement project efforts. Prepares presentations, communications, and training materials to enable change management and success of CI project initiatives for multiple channels/sites/locations within the CPG Enterprise.
25% - Accountability Category #4: Business Partnership and Stakeholder Management.
Directly communicates and informs stakeholders for projects to provide updates on the project objectives, performance measures, issues and risks. Stakeholders may include channel or functional management leaders and/or teams, CI deployment teams, and other CI practitioners. Uses comprehensive counsel and knowledge to remove barriers to ensure completion of project milestones, and influences stakeholders to take action across multiple channels/sites/locations within the CPG Enterprise. Establish and maintain relationships within a subset of Business or Function leadership, as well as other teams across the CPG Enterprise or Functions. Facilitates working discussions across multiple channels/site/location teams, and maintains an open partnership with business users to identify and solve gaps in process improvements. Works with a subset of Business or Function leadership to build accountability of Process Improvement projects, and ensures alignment with PI program goals, objectives, plan and approach. Challenges the status quo to align process with minimal uniqueness only when needed for a business or customer requirement.
